Comic - Spend Within Your Means
Spend within you means is a comic about a boy, Tim, who came from a wealthy family. He thought that money came by easily and thus spent his money unscrupulously. In the end, he realised that he had lost all his savings.
In the first scene, I have placed a family of three with Tim in the centre. The father wears spectacles, a white shirt, belt and long pants, and thus give people the impression of a successful businessman. In the background, a big house surrounded by a large piece of lawn indicates wealth. The stacks of gold coins and and notes is just an exaggeration of their wealth. All these tell us that they were a rich family.
In the second scene, I used a "money-tree" to represent Tim's views about money. Apparently, he literally thought that money grew on trees. The tree was chosen to be young, healthy and bushy, and since it was a "money-tree", it was a metaphor to show that Tim thought that his money was still growing.
In the third scene, I showed Tim taking money out from his wallet. Tim spent his money on expensive luxuries like cars (Tim has become a adult). Although Tim has grown up, his body still remains as a child. This was a metaphor for his childish spending behaviours.
In the fourth scene, I showed Tim sitting on a pavement with a gloomy expression. A bag of money with a pair of wings depicts that Tim has lost all of his savings. He has to even sell his house which is why he is seen sitting on the pavement

Firstly, from what I can see, you are missing out on 2 posts, that is the post on setting and the one on telephone conversation, so I hope that you can add it in ASAP. Next, your comic is a bit simple from what I can see but theme is brought across clearly, having a short and sweet effect. Good job there!
ReplyDeleteNicely done, Bram. It tells me that I cannot take anythings for granted and I must be thrifty. In other words we must " save for the rainy day ". Thanks Bram, you have taught whoever who read this comic a good lesson.
ReplyDeleteI like your post very much! Your comic portrays a simple message" Spend only when needed!" Indeed, many wealthy people nowadays tend to spend money on luxuries that they do not need! This is a bad habit. We can spend a little some times to make us happy. To much of something is definitely bad! Well done, Bram! This is a real-life problem and I think you did a good job and showed us the devastating consequences!
